Telecommunication and Service Design
The Mobile telecommunication market accounts for about 100 billion dollars worldwide. Only in the United Kingdom it accounts for 8.5 Billions, and in Italy of about 60 million citizens the 98% has a mobile phone. This data shows that humans have changed their way of communicating with others over the course of a very few years. Today we already have smart phones that will allow us for controlling the home environment and turn on lights or the oven before we even get there, there is a need to design services and systems, both hardware and software, that will make these applications possible.
Service Design and the related Experience Design are becoming more and more important, major brands, not only telecommunication ones, have recently become aware of the importance that customers give to the experience of using a product more than to the possibility of owning it. From the ringtones and small animations that teenagers exchange daily, the services provided will shift towards personal data transfers and purchase of goods and information.
