Backstage… Bono gets ready, he tries on his new CuteCircuit Jacket and all he can say is “IT’S AMAZING!”.

Out there- the set is dark. Only blue lights from the main platform are visible.

As the song begins with background voices ask, “Is there a time?”,” What do you want?”, “Is history bound to repeat itself?”.

And suddenly the lights change colour and as the music builds, out of the darkness each member of U2 materialises in sparkling blue lights, matching those of the stage. Zooropa hasn’t been played by the rock band for 15 years. It is an exceptional moment for the band and their fans.

For this dramatic moment, CuteCircuit has created outfits for each member of the band, each emitting a spectacular display of light. The legendary rock band from Dublin are wearing the most technically spectacular illuminated jackets ever created.

Each of them is hand assembled and embedded with over 5000 LEDS which can create any number of outstanding visual displays, patterns, and even video. The jackets are all controlled wirelessly in realtime by the lighting masters backstage using “Q”, the live performance software for wearable technology by CuteCircuit.

Because each member of U2 has his own distinctive style, each jacket was created to match the unique style of each band member. Black waxed cotton for Bono, black leather for the Edge, white cotton for Larry, and a futuristic blend of leather and nylon for Adam.

The Zooropa chapter of each concert is set amongst neon signs of a brightly-lit futuristic city. These Jackets match to perfection the iconic stage designed by architect Mark Fisher, a spectacular “spaceship-on-four-legs” covered with video screens. The overall effect with the CuteCircuit luminous jackets shows each of the four members with a dynamically changing illuminated surface moving over their bodies as they perform.

The four Jackets were used exclusively during the North American leg of the 360° Tour and were used for a number of songs in each performance including “City of Blinding Lights”, “Crazy”, “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and others.

Francesca and Ryan enjoyed this unforgettable collaboration and said “We are extremely proud of the effort, craftsmanship, design and technical achievement that went into the U2 jackets. Working backstage at the first concert of the North American Leg of the tour at Invesco Field, Denver, Colorado, Adam Clayton the bassist of U2 has his first experience with the jacket. Watching Ryan and Francesca prepare for the show he exclaimed “This is so cool!”

As Francesca recently described the event during CuteCircuit’s talk at TEDxSilkRoad “imagine 60000 people in a stadium all going -Wow!- at the same time, it was incredible!”.

Laura Pausini appears magically on stage, and then flies over the audience wearing an incredibly long skirt that falls like a cascade of colours. This magic moment was made real by CuteCircuit for the finale of the Laura Pausini Inedito World Tour 2011/2012 currently traveling worldwide.

For this beautiful and talented Italian singer CuteCircuit has designed a special jewel skirt with a stunning length, a 4.5 meters silk chiffon skirt that incorporates thousands of LED’s embroidered onto the fabric making it the world’s largest soft wearable display ever used in a live performance. This fabulous skirt is entirely made with fifty meters of the finest Italian silk chiffon and decorated with Swarovski crystals in a gradient of greys from moonlight to diamond; lighting up in many enchanting colour patterns that follow the notes of the beautiful romantic song “Invece No”.

The CuteCircuit Skirt appeared for the first time during the first long-awaited concert of the Laura Pausini Inedito Tour on December 22nd in Milan, leaving the audience breathless, and it will accompany the Italian singer on all upcoming tour stops all over the world including the upcoming London stop at the Royal Albert Hall.

CuteCircuit ha diseñado exclusivamente esta pieza única para la guapa y talentosa cantante italiana. Una falda joya de nada más y nada menos que 4 metros y medio de chiffon de seda con miles de LEDs incorporados, convirtiéndose así el mayor display de moda interactiva usado en una actuación en directo. La fabulosa falda se creó utilizando cincuenta metros del más fino y exclusivo chiffon de seda; además, esta adornada con cientos de cristales de Swarovski en diferentes tonalidades de grises. La gonna gioiello infatti si illumina in un arcobaleno di colori sgargianti, creando giochi di luci e fantasie sulle note del romantico singolo “Invece No”. Più di cinquanta metri del più pregiato chiffon di seta italiano sono stati necessari per realizzare questo favoloso costume di scena, decorato poi con centinaia di cristalli Swarovski in tutte le tonalità di grigi.

La gonna gioiello firmata CuteCircuit, apparsa per la prima volta durante l’attesissimo concerto di apertura del Tour  il 22 dicembre a Milano , ha lasciato tutti gli spettatori senza fiato ed accompagnerà la cantante in tutte le successive tappe internazionali, compresa un’unica imperdibile data a Londra al Royal Albert Hall.

CuteCircuit designers Francesca and Ryan commented, “The design inspiration grew directly from Katy’s song. We wanted to use shapes and fabrics that would amplify the unique atmosphere of the music and create a stunning visual experience.” Even pop-star Rihanna was impressed with Katy’s otherworldly look tweeting, “How f***in smokin is @katyperry as an alien??”

Newspaper reviews of the performance ranged from glowing to astonished with one paper exclaiming, “Forget extraterrestrial, Katy is extra-delectable!” To experience the full performance for yourself check out this YouTube link below.
