F+R Hugs starts a chain reaction!!!

The hugs shirt had a very long week! Very nice people at Engadget and Near Near Future found it on INDEX 2005 website and started a huge blog chain reaction that extended to Argentina, Switzerland, USA, Russia, Spain, UK, Sweden, Denmark, Latvia, Corea, Australia, Japan, Italy…

CuteCircuit at CHI 05

Friday, April 8th, 2005

Francesca chaired the Affective Computing and Emotion session at CHI 05 in Portland, Oregon, USA. The session was very interesting it ranged from sensors to track emotions to emotion sharing telecommunication services, a sort of “from micro to macro” travel through emotion and technology. We met many of our fellow alumni from Interaction Ivrea and lovely Bill Verplank, greetings to you all!

Ryan and Francesca went to visit Benetton’s Fabrica research center on Tuesday. Fabrica is a cool place, full of energy, great people, all wrapped inside a fascinating, partially underground, hidden in the beautiful venetian countryside Tadao Ando architecture. Ryan and Francesca are in Copenhagen teaching and Interaction Design and Physical Computing workshop for INDEX 05 competition at Danmarks Designskole. Testing the Dance Interactive project

What happens when you mix fashion and technology? What happens when you mix art and computers? What happens when you mix media and culture? In December, Francesca and Ryan talked to the 8th grade classes at Caribou Middle School about all these things. Topics focused on Wearable Computing and Interaction Design and the students got a glimpse inside how an interaction design research lab works from the initial breainstorming of the idea right down to the programming of electronics! CuteCircuit on the BBC World!

Francesca has been interviewed for BBC World Technology Go Digital programme by Tracey Logan and Helen Sharp. The subject of the interview was the new collection of wearables TransforMe, a series of garments that transform themselves during the day according to the wearer’s mood and social activities. The garments were shown officially for the first time in Amsterdam during the Nemo Science Museum’s How Smart are You Dressed Tomorrow? event (see pictures in the previous posts).
